It could be that this pc was shipped with win 10 and somebody did a format with a retail disk of win7, then used some kind of loader/crack because the retails obviously cant activate with dells? (it needs oem installation)?
System-Locked Pre-installation (SLP) is the mechanism used by big royalty OEM computer manufacturers to factory activate pre-installed Windows operating system on branded desktop PC, laptop, notebook, netbook and nettop computer so that activation process of Windows is done transparently and automatically once end-user first starts the computer. The offline OEM-style pre-activation that bypass Windows Product Activatin (WPA) is implemented to reduce the chance of annoying mass PC buyers from having to deal with activation after buying the computer. There are now three different version of SLP, namely SLP 1.0 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2008, SLP 2.0 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, and SLP 2.1, which supports Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and has backward-compatibility support for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 too.

I will start with basics of how a copy of windows gets automatically activated when installed on OEM (original equipment manufacturer) based PCs, traditionally when a copy of windows is installed you have insert your license key and activate by verifying it with Microsoft via internet or by getting a confirmation id over telephone. But with OEMs like Dell, Sony, Lenovo etc. a need was felt to get windows activated right upon installation without going through all the annoyance. With Windows XP a method called System-Locked Pre-installation (SLP) was devised. This method uses an area of BIOS to store some identification data, in SLP 1.0 the version included with XP, this was simply the name of the OEM. There are files on hard disk when windows is installed which were being matched with the value from BIOS for verification, if matched your copy gets activated. SLP 1.0 was cracked quite easily which demanded for a more complex system to be developed resulting in SLP 2.0 included with Windows Vista and SLP 2.1 shipped with Windows 7. Both methods works similarly with only a change in marker in Windows 7 based PCs. A SLP 2.1 involves checking the presence of a matching OEM-supplied key, an OEM-specific certificate and the most challenging part of the puzzle an OEM-specific ACPI_SLIC table (SLIC 2.1 table) before it can activate.
Now moving to next step, OEM-key and OEM-specific certificates were being cracked very early when a copy was leaked illegally from Lenovo, but the real hack was to bypass the SLIC table. Methods were developed commonly known as Loaders (also called the softmod) which involves loading the SLIC table in memory before the main OS loads thereby fooling the system with a fake SLIC table. These methods involves Linux based loaders and sometimes may install trozens or other malware on your PC. Other method called the hardmod also exist which modifies the BIOS and may lead to complete system damage.
First of all Thankyou for the post, though I have some doubt , please clear it.1.Is this process is just to by pass phone or online activation?2 While installing windows I typed My COA sticker product key.Now It is showing your product key is invalid.1. Is this method legal. I mean if I follow this method will I get geniun windows 7 home premium. I have my OEM COA sticker on the back of laptop. Can I use that in the process.?Actually My hard disk got crashed and so I have to replace it, also I bought New RAM.If I replace hard disk and upgrade RAM ,windows will ask to activate it again. Now can I use this process to activate it, ? Will windows get successfully activated.?Also in future I want to upgrade my windows 7 to windows 10,if I do this process ,will I face any problem,? will my win 10 also remain geniun? Please help
yes you can definitely use this process.. the back key is oem key used with original windows disk provided by manufacturer.. this process basically does the same thing indirectly.. anyways you should be good to go
Thank you for quick replyI think now I understand why it is showing my product key invalid, I used SLIC ToolKit V3.2 and found that SLIC status is VALID (Green) but there is Certi Error (NO OEM Cert found). So I have no certificate. Now if I download certificate and do the above AWESOME trick , my windows will get Activated legally and geniunly and then I can upgrade to Windows 10 . Right?Am I thinking correctly Right? Please reply

I had bought a Dell Inspiron 15, N5010 laptop with Win 7 Home Premium. Due to a virus issue, I had to format my laptop. By mistake, I also formatted my ROM memory. The recovery DVD is also not working properly. I have my original CD key used to activate Win 7. I had downloaded an OEM version of Win 7 from torrent and installed it successfully. However, the CD key is different. How can I reactivate this OEM version with my original CD key and thus upgrade to Win 10.
In Virtual Box (4.2 or newer) it does work. You need to setup the ACPI SLIC table though, as explained in this thread: =2&t=43678&hilit=slic&sid=299dbbb465fb8fbfe717138bbf18801eWith the link above, I was able to activate Win7Pro of my DELL M3800 in a VM with Ubuntu 14.04 host.
Hi, I bought a new Dell Inspiron with a Bios Win 8 product key. the problem is that for some reason, this key is blocked. Dell gave me a new key which works but every 15 mins or so, the msg to activate windows comes up. When I checked in system, I can see that Windows somehow goes back to the blocked bios key. I have to activate it every 15 mins!! How can I solve this? Can I replace the blocked bios key with the new key I have which works? thanks Nick
